With Regards to “Your Assets”, “all that you call ‘your own’ is from God” and God Expects Stewardship and Accountability for “Your Assets”

MESSAGE SUMMARY: You are God’s stewards and His supervisor of all God’s talents and money which God has provided you during your earthly lifetime. You achieve your obligations to God by meeting your Stewardship and Fiduciary responsibilities and accountability to Him – all that you call “your own” is from God. The author of Hebrews, in Hebrews 13:5-6, presents God’s expectations of you in the management of your finances: “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you,’ So, we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’”. Also, John Wesley, an Anglican Priest and founder of the Methodist denomination, said in his Three Rules About Money: 1) Make as much money as you can – be industrious and diligent; 2) Save as much money as you can -- be no spendthrift and live frugally and prudently; and 3) Give away as much money as you can. That is Devine destination of money; that makes it an everlasting blessing. John Wesley’s “Rules” provide you with a pathway to fulfill God’s expectations for your Stewardship and Fiduciary responsibilities.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Past Failures. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Grace. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).

In Tough Times, Remembering Jesus’ Sovereignty, Character, Love, and Power Will Help You Focus On Jesus and Not Your Problems

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Jesus will hold your hand and walk along beside you in your trials and tribulations. However, in your tough times, be careful that you do not drift away from your personal relationship with Jesus. In your times of uncertainty and fear, remember these facts:

Jesus is the Lord;
Jesus is Sovereign over the Universe;
God the Father is the Creator of the Universe; and
Jesus really cares for you as a single human occupant of this Earth.

If you will remember what you have been taught about Jesus, it will help you deal with your tough life circumstances: “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus," (Philippians 4:6-7). Remembering Jesus’ Sovereignty, character, love, and power will help you in your times of trouble and stress.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be anxious. (Philippians 4:6f). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14).

For You, Jesus “humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross” for Your Sins; What Are You Willing to Sacrifice for Him?

MESSAGE SUMMARY: What have you, personally, sacrificed for the Gospel? Some have lost jobs, friendships, and family members because of their faith. Others, outside of the US, are losing their lives following the Gospel of Jesus the Christ. For example, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) reports that 6,000 Christians were killed between January and June 2018 in Nigeria. What have you sacrificed for the gospel? You cannot earn your Salvation by your actions like standing up for your faith – Salvation is provided to you by God though His Grace and your faith. Paul, in Philippians 2:8-11, posits the Gospel’s intended impact for followers of Jesus: “And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.". However, there is a joy to you when you sacrifice something in your life for Jesus and the Gospel rather than always living for yourself. What have you sacrificed for the Gospel – Jesus gave His all for you?

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Addictions. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Self-Control. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f).

Today’s Uncertainties Tend to Lead to “Mental Thrashing” and “Living Beyond Our Capacity” – Jesus Wants Us to Live Only to the “Fullness” He Gave Us

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Most of us are living our lives “above our capacity for fullness” – at a level with no space or extra. Therefore, you can bring on chaos in your life producing feelings of being overwhelmed by events; exhausted on an emotional level; and physically debilitated. Spiritually, you become a wimp. Paul, in Ephesians 4:15-16, tells you about how God has equipped the followers of Jesus: “Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.". When you do not live your life with the fullness that God as provided you, you are wounding the cause of Jesus; and you are hurting yourself.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Hatred. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Love. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).

Because You Are “In Christ”: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus”

MESSAGE SUMMARY: As Followers of Jesus, we are "In Christ" -- God looks at us and sees Jesus in us. Throughout the Epistles we find: "In Christ" or "In Him". In Galatians 3:14, Paul tells us that our faith in Jesus makes us “In Christ” and recipients of God’s Covenant with Abraham: “so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.". Also, Paul goes even further, in Galatians 3:25-28, to tell us that, through our faith in Jesus, we no longer need any kind of intermediary because we are “In Christ” and we have a personal relationship with God, the Creator of the Universe: “But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.”. The benefit our position "In Christ", as Christians, is that when God looks at us, He sees Jesus, the Son; therefore, He then sees us as His sons and daughters.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! (Luke 11:13).

In Difficult Times, the Faith of Christians, Churches, and Nations Can Be Tested and Doubts Arise; However, God Is Faithful and Will Not Forsake You

MESSAGE SUMMARY: God will never leave you or forsake you even when difficulties arise, and you are tempted to walk away from your faith. When you are tempted to doubt God, remember that God is faithful. When the Apostles questioned Jesus about faith and prayer, Jesus told the Apostles, in Mathew 21:21-22, that your faith is powerful and that God will respond to your faith: “And Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.’”. Hold, unswervingly, to the hope and faith you profess because God, who promised us, is faithful. While you are endeavoring to hold onto your faith in God and Jesus’ Gospel, you need to always remember the faithfulness of God, even in those times in which you may be doubting or questioning your faith. Do not give up your faith!

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will seek God’s perspective on my situation, For I know that in all things God works together for good to those of us who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (From Romans 8:28).

Historically, People and Nations Have Abandoned God’s Blessings, but God Promised to Return If They Returned to Him; Will You Seek God’s Help In Our Return to Him?

MESSAGE SUMMARY: We all sin, both people as individuals and as nations; and sometimes we may perceive our sin to be so horrendous that we think our life is lost to God’s willingness to forgive us; therefore, we believe that we are lost to God’s Salvation. If we repent to God of our sins and return to God in our lives, He will return to us. Whenever we fall into sin, do we repent and return to the Lord? Hopefully, our answer is: "I will, with God's help.". Our God wants us to return to Him because He loves us -- He is a covenant God. In Malachi 3:7, God admonishes His people who have turned away from Him; but God promises His return to His people if they return to Him: “From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. But you say, ‘How shall we return?’". However, Malachi asks the question: “How shall we return?”. Joel 2:12-13 provides the Lord’s answer to Malachi’s question: “’Yet even now,’” declares the LORD, ‘return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments. Return to the Lord our God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and He relents over disaster.’”. The Lord wants to meet you where you are and to bring His Grace to you. In Matthew 26:27-28, Jesus confirms His Covent relationship with you: "And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.’”. If you return to God in your life, He will return to you.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Inconsistencies. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Faithfulness. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f).

We Are to Pray Directly to God for “all people . . and all who are in high positions” Because God “desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth”

MESSAGE SUMMARY: We are told, in Hebrews 5:7-8, that Jesus, as a Human, prayed to God in both content and manner as He taught us to pray to God for others and ourselves: “In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications {submissive requests}, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.". In your personal relationship with God, you can come before God, as Jesus did, on behalf of yourself or others in Intercessory Prayer. You are given the privilege of following Moses’ example for Intercessory Prayer because of what Jesus has done for you. Jesus has given you the privilege of entering the Throne Room of God to have access to God the Father – this access to God is through prayer. In 1 Timothy 2:1-4, we are told the importance if intercessory prayer: “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.".

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Inadequacy. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Abundance. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).

Real “Change” in the Church and Our Nation Begins With “Change” In Your Heart and Your Relationship with God and then with Those Different than You

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Brothers and Sisters in Christ, you can start real ”change” right where you are now. Begin “change” with your own heart first and then in your own relationship with God. Building on your personal relationship with God, you can change your own community -- One person at a time; One relationship at a time; and One act a time by reaching out and building a relationship with someone different than you. However, doing nothing is no longer an option for us. Let us pray for one another about these things and let us get out and make a difference in our local communities. God has placed you and me here for such a time as this.

The deep change, which we all need, will only be through revival that comes from repentance – turning away from our sin and toward God and His righteous ways in Jesus Christ. As Jesus commanded us in John 5:12: “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”. Also, in John 13:34-35, Jesus commanded us: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”. For Jesus, “one another” is all inclusive and not just those that look like you and/or are of your culture. We do not have just a “skin problem”, we have a “sin problem”.

As Dr. Tony Evans of Oak Cliff Bible Church in Dallas Texas recently said: “The evangelical church needs to speak up where it has been silent on injustice and racism. The biggest problem in the culture today is the failure of the church. We would not even have a racial crisis in America if the church had not consistently failed to deal with racism as the severe sin it is. But because the church has historically ignored and downplayed it, the issue still exists. Where the church is called to set an example, we have cowered.”. The Bible makes it unequivocally clear that we are all made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27): “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”. We each bear the image of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Any hostility between brothers and sisters in Christ is an affront to God and damages our souls and the “blessed community” so many of us seek.

In These Times, God Expects Righteousness in Our Families, Nation, and Us; and Righteousness, that Meets God’s Expectations, Comes Ony From “New Hearts”

MESSAGE SUMMARY: God makes you a new creation through your new heart created by an indwelling of the Holy Spirit in your life. God is interested in your heart, and He wants you to have a righteous heart – God changes your thinking and your attitude through a change in your heart. In Romans 8:26-27, Paul describes the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in followers of Jesus resulting in a new person, with a new heart, in Jesus: “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.". As a follower of Jesus, you are salt and light, comes from your righteousness – not just in deed and appearance but, also, in your inner person -- your heart.
