Jesus Followers Are the Enemy’s {devil’s} Target to Mess You Up and To Destroy Your Relationship with God

MESSAGE SUMMARY:  The enemy {the evil one, the devil} is always at work seeking to destroy the fruit of the Lord’s field and your life. In John10:10, Jesus tells us: “The thief {enemy} comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”. In 1 Peter 5:8, Peter tells you more about your enemy who is always with you: “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil {enemy} prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”. Continue to remember that the enemy is always attempting to mess you up and to destroy your witness. Also, the enemy is always attempting to destroy your relationship with God and to get you to reject God. The enemy does his evil in subtle ways, but his purpose is clear -- the enemy wants you off the right path. The enemy is always at work, and he never sleeps.

TODAY’S PRAYER: Father, I confess that when difficulties and trials come into my life, large or small, I mostly grumble and complain. I realize the trials James talks about are not necessarily “walls,” but they are difficult to bear, nonetheless. Fill me with such a vision of a transformed life, O God, that I might actually consider it “pure joy” when you bring trials my way. I believe, Lord. Help my unbelief. In Jesus’ name, amen.                            Scazzero, Peter, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 94). Zondervan. Kindle Edition.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FORGIVEN. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9).

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): John10:10-18;1 Peter 5:8-11; Ephesians 4:26-32; Psalms 50b:13-23.

Difficult Situations, When Exacerbated by Satan, Can Drive Jesus Followers to Bitterness While God Is Making a Life of Great Value

MESSAGE SUMMARY:  God wants to make you into a pearl of great value. However, some of us are upset about our life difficulties or issues in our relationships. You need to allow the Lord to use your life circumstances; and if you are obedient and submissive to Him, the Lord will turn your situations into a life of beauty. Alternatively, when you encounter these negative situations in your life, often, you can become bitter. On the other hand, you can submit and obey the Lord, thereby, permitting the Lord to turn your life and life situations into pearls of beauty and into a life of great value. Also, you will be more of Jesus’ presence in your life. As Paul tells us in Philippians 1:21: “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.". Remember, the Prophet Joel tells us, in Joel 2:13b, about the character of God: “he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.".

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM RIGHTEOUS IN GOD’S EYES. God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21).

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Joel 2:12-13; James 4:4-10; Isaiah 1:18-20; Psalms 61:1-8.

The Enemy {Satan} Is Always Attempting to Destroy Jesus’ Followers’ Relationship with God

MESSAGE SUMMARY:

The enemy {Satan} comes to destroy the fruit of the Lord's field. The enemy comes only to kill, to steal, or to destroy. In Matthew 13:39, Jesus explains who “the enemy” is: “and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels.". You always must be alert for the presence of the enemy in your life -- he never sleeps; and he is always attempting to mess you up. In John 10:10, Jesus explains the fundamental difference between Himself and the enemy: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.". Foremost, the enemy is attempting to destroy your relationship with God.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be anxious. (Philippians 4:6f). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14).

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV):  Matthew 13:39; Luke 10:19; John 10:10; Psalms 85:1-13.

What Has Been Sown in Your Heart; and By Whom?

What Has Been Sown in Your Heart; and By Whom?

December 4, 2019

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Certain men, whose condemnation was written about long ago, have secretly slipped in among us (i.e. into Christian institutions); they are Godless men who changed the Grace of our God into a license for immorality and denied Jesus as the Christ. In the Parables of Mathew 13:19, Jesus tells us: “When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.”. Jesus’ “Parable of the Sower”, in Mathew 13:18-23, applies to us and offers us a challenge to live the Christian faith, or not? Before His Ascension, Jesus instructed His Apostles, and us, in His Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20: “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’”. Are we going to follow Jesus and obey his Great Commission to “make disciples”, or not?

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus ChristI will live as Jesus would. (Philippians 1:27). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14).

The Enemy Is About Making You Doubt God and to Question Your Faith

October 6, 2018

MESSAGE SUMMARY: The enemy is always at work seeking to destroy the fruit of the Lord’s field. In John 10:10-11, Jesus tells us that the enemy is always active and seeking only “to steal, kill, and to destroy”: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.". In 1 Peter 5:8-9, Peter tells us that the enemy goes around “like a roaring lion seeking to devour”: “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.". The enemy never sleeps, and he is constantly attempting to mess us up and to destroy our relationship with God. The enemy tries to get us to doubt God – he may do his work in subtle ways, but he wants us off the righteous path.
