Have You Sacrificed FOR the Gospel or Have You Sacrificed the Gospel in Your Chosen Life?

December 26, 2019

MESSAGE SUMMARY Do you sacrifice for the Gospel as you live your life, or do you sacrifice the Gospel in order to live your life as you chooseWhat have you sacrificed for the Gospel? Does the Gospel mean very much to you? Before you answer this question, please read the Apostle Peter’s consideration, in 1 Peter 4:16-19, of the obligation followers of Jesus have to the Gospel: “Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And ‘If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?’ Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.". Some of us have lost jobs, friendships, and family members because of being a follower of Jesus. What have you sacrificed for the Gospel? Sacrifices, for the sake of the Gospel are not done as works performed in a belief that they will lead to Salvation. Instead, true sacrifices are done out of joy from living for Jesus versus living for one’s self. Jesus gave his all for you; what have you sacrificed for the Gospel?

TODAY’S AFFIRMATIONToday, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Past Failures. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Grace. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).

Does Jesus’ Gospel Warrant Your Personal Sacrifice If You Were Threatened for Your Faith?

Does Jesus’ Gospel Warrant Your Personal Sacrifice If You Were Threatened for Your Faith?

August 27, 2019

MESSAGE SUMMARY: What have you, personally, sacrificed for the Gospel? Some have lost jobs, friendships, and family members because of their faith. Others, outside of the US, are losing their lives following the Gospel of Jesus the Christ. For example, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) reports that 6,000 Christians were killed between January and June 2018 in Nigeria. What have you sacrificed for the gospel? You cannot earn your Salvation by your actions like standing up for your faith – Salvation is provided to you by God though His Grace and your faith. Paul, in Philippians 2:8-11, posits the Gospel’s intended impact for followers of Jesus: “And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.". However, there is a joy to you when you sacrifice something in your life for Jesus and the Gospel rather than always living for yourself. What have you sacrificed for the Gospel – Jesus gave His all for you?

TODAY’S AFFIRMATIONToday, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my AnxietyRather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Peace. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f).
