“Knowing About God” Is Important, But “Knowing God Personally” Is Everything

“Knowing About God” Is Important, But “Knowing God Personally” Is Everything

May 28, 2019

TODAYS MESSAGE SUMMARY: There is a difference in knowing about someone and really knowing them. The New Covenant permits you to know God in a personal way and not just to know about the Lord. This means to know the Lord God was fulfilled in Jesus the Christ. In Romans 8:26, Paul tells us that the pathway for knowing God, personally, is through our prayers; and the Holy Spirit is with you to help you with our prayers: “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.". There is a great deal of difference in knowing about God through study and knowing God by developing a personal relationship with Him through your prayers and the New Covenant that is in Jesus. The Apostle John, in John 1:1-5, clearly identifies that Jesus is the “Word” {God} who is the Creator of the Universe: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.". Therefore, God’s Grace, through Jesus, has given you the opportunity to have a personal relationship with our Triune God (i.e. God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit). Jesus provides this opportunity for you to have a personal relationship with God, the Creator of the Universe, who can become the cornerstone of your life. Have you established your personal relationship with God? If not, why not?

Today, There is Much Confusion About Jesus – Who Is Jesus to You?

Today, There is Much Confusion About Jesus – Who Is Jesus to You?

September 11, 2018

MESSAGE SUMMARY: The greatest question that we will ever face in our lives is the question Jesus asked His disciples: “Who do you say that I am?”. Who was Jesus? Who is Jesus? In Jesus’ exchange with the Apostle Thomas, after Jesus’ Resurrection, Thomas answers this question posed by Jesus in John 20:27-29: “Then he {Jesus} said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.’ Thomas answered him, ‘My Lord and my God!’ Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’”. To answer questions regarding Jesus and who He is, read the Bible – the New Testament and its Gospels and Epistles provide answers and an understanding of Jesus. From our reading of the Bible, we discover that Jesus is much more than meets the eye.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATIONToday, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Self-centerednessRather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Love. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f).

Are You Ready for God’s Judgement?

Are You Ready for God’s Judgement?

August 1, 2018

MESSAGE SUMMARY: The Prophet Isaiah, in Isaiah 2:4, tells us that: “He {God} shall judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.”. From this passage, we learn that the Messiah would not only teach the law of God; but, also, He would come to judge. As expressed in 2 Timothy 4:1: “I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living {quick} and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom . . . be ready in season and out of season . . .”. We know that God’s Judgement will always provide us Justice; but we pray for God’s Mercy, which we don’t deserve.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus ChristI press on toward His goal for me. (Philippians 3:12f). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14).

In Jesus, God Fully Dwells

In Jesus, God Fully Dwells

June 30, 2018

Message Summary: Jesus is the firstborn of all creation; and in Him, all the fullness of Deity lives in bodily form. These statements, from Paul to the Colossians in Colossians 1:15, “He {Jesus} is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation." form the crux of Christianity. In Jesus, God fully dwells. Again, in Colossians 2:9-10, Paul reminds us of Jesus’ ultimate Deity: “For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.". This position, of Jesus’ Deity, is quite different from the teachings of Islam, Judaism, Mormonism, the New Age, or the Universalist. God expects our faith and belief in Jesus’ Deity in return for God’s forgiveness that results from Jesus’ sacrificial Crucifixion and Resurrection and God’s Grace.

Today’s Affirmation: I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ,  I will not be ashamed of the GospelI will not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes (including me). (From Romans 1:16),

Our Country Has Always Been About “Freedom of Religion” BUT NOT “Freedom from Religion“

Our Country Has Always Been About “Freedom of Religion” BUT NOT “Freedom from Religion“

March 16, 2018

Website Link: www.AWordFromTheLord.org/

Message Summary: Our country is NOT about “freedom from religion”. Sadly, because of our abandoning God’s Laws, all of us in this country are affected – Christians and non-Christians; atheists; and followers of other religious faiths. As Jesus says in Mathew 5:45: “. . . For He makes the sun rise on the evil and the good, and send the rain on the just and the unjust.”. What can we do? The first thing we can do is pray and to fast – pray and ask God to turn our country around. We do want God involved, and He is involved.  In Daniel 4:24-25, God told King Nebuchadnezzar, through Daniel’s interpretation of the King’s dream, that God is always in control; and that He determines those who govern us: “this is the interpretation, O king: It is a decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king, that you shall be driven from among men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. You shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and you shall be wet with the dew of heaven, and seven periods of time shall pass over you, till you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will.". God responds to our prayers.

Today’s Affirmation: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I will seek God’s perspective on my situation. For I know that in all things God works together for good to those of us who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (From Romans 8:28).
