MESSAGE SUMMARY: The purpose of Jesus’ death on the cross was to sacrifice Himself to provide us a sacrifice, God’s required blood sacrifice, for our sins which we could not do for ourselves. In Romans 5:18-21, Paul succinctly explains Jesus’ unique role, that only Jesus could play, in our Justification and Salvation – a role that begins with God’s Grace: “Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.". Jesus’ blood made His death, which He experienced for us, provide restitution; make atonement; and pay the penalty of our sins. Someone must pay for our sins – either we must pay, or Jesus does pay. If we pay for our sins, it means our eternal condemnation and alienation from God, If Jesus pays for our sins, it means personal forgiveness and an eternal personal relationship with God. Jesus death and Resurrection were for the forgiveness of our sins.
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Hatred. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Love. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).
