The People, in Exodus, Discovered that Living Apart from God Brought Disaster Upon Their Lives – Is this Experience a Warning for Us Today?

MESSAGE SUMMARY: You may have a Godly father and mother, but your relationship with God is not based on their relationship with God; it is solely your relationship with God. God has given you covenants as ways to build your relationship with Him. As God told His people in Exodus 19:5-6a: “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”. The people of Israel found out quickly that when they desired to live their lives apart from God that they brought disaster upon their lives. God is a covenant God. He will bless you if you obey Him; but if you disobey him, it leaves you to the consequences of your sin.

Therefore, you must continue, in your faith and obedience, to follow Jesus – this is the only Way and Jesus is the only Way.  Following Jesus is The Way provided by God’s Grace to the Followers of Jesus so that you can avoid the experiences faced by the people of Israel as recounted in Exodus.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATIONToday, I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will seek God’s perspective on my situation. For I know that in all things God  works together for good to those of us who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (From Romans 8:28).

God Is Coming to Judge or Purify Us

God Is Coming to Judge or Purify Us

June 23, 2018

Message Summary: In Malachi 3:5, the Lord articulates that He “will draw near to you for judgment. I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hired worker in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the LORD of hosts.” These are the people of God that He is talking about -- these aren’t the unbelievers; these are the people that say they are following God. As Paul reminds us in Romans 2:4-5: “Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.". The messenger of the Covenant is coming – He coming to purify us or to judge us.

Today’s Affirmation: I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ,  I will entrust to Him my futureI know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day. (From 2 Timothy 1:12).
