Becoming God’s Treasure
Sunday Aug 05, 2018
Sunday Aug 05, 2018
MESSAGE SUMMARY: God is making us into pearls of great value. However, some of us are upset about our life difficulties or issues in our relationships. We need to allow the Lord to use our life circumstances; and if we are obedient and submissive to Him, the Lord will turn our situations into a life of beauty. Alternatively, when we encounter these negative situations in our lives, we can become bitter. On the other hand, we can submit and obey the Lord, thereby, permitting the Lord to turn our lives and life situations into pearls of beauty and lives of great value; and, also, we will know more of the presence of Jesus in our lives. As Paul tells us in Philippians 1:21: “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.". Remember, the Prophet Joel tells us, in Joel 2:13b, about the character of God: “he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.".
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! (Luke 11:13).

How Do You Use the 24 Hours God Has Given You in a Day?
Sunday Jul 29, 2018
Sunday Jul 29, 2018
MESSAGE SUMMARY: In the twenty-four hours given to us by God in a day, we should allot time to spend with God as well as time to spend with family, friends, school, and work. First, as we plan our day, we have assurance in Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.". Additionally, we should allot time to serve others as well as time for exercise and rest. Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11-13 summarizes God’s precious gift of time to us: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven . . . He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also, that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God's gift to man.". God has given us these twenty-four hours; but if we don’t have enough clock in a day to get it all done, then we are doing some things we should not be doing. If we are in the will and purpose of God for our lives, then He will help us get done those things that He desires.
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FORGIVEN. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9).

Where Does Self-Denial Fit in Your Life’s Focus?
Friday Jul 27, 2018
Friday Jul 27, 2018
MESSAGE SUMMARY: In a time in which we hear so much about self-help, self-image, and self-actualization, Jesus is saying self-denial is the way to life. Jesus tells us, in Matthew 16:24, that self-denial is a key element in following Him: “Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.’". Taking up one’s cross means to die to self-ambitions. When we die to our self-ambitious and put them on the cross, Jesus’ life moves through us: “Not my will but Thy will.”. By denying self, we become alive in Jesus; and His Spirit flows through us – we experience eternal life and abundant life.
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Evil Ways. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Goodness. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f).

Are You Ready to Let Jesus Be Lord Over His Finances?
Sunday Jul 15, 2018
Sunday Jul 15, 2018
Message Summary: We are so focused on earning money and related activities that it is easy for money and finances to become our god, thereby, violating the Second Commandment. If Jesus is Lord over all, as we are told in Psalms 24:1: “The earth is the LORD's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.”, then everything is God’s. In James 5:1-3, the author of the Book of James provides insight into one who does NOT make God the Lord of their finances: “Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days.”. Therefore, let God Be Lord over your finances, which really are His finances.
Today’s Affirmation: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM RIGHTEOUS IN GOD’S EYES. God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Why Church?
Sunday Jun 03, 2018
Sunday Jun 03, 2018
Message Summary: When we show up at our church on Sunday, what is our purpose – is it to serve or to be served? Too many of us go to church seeking what the church can do for us. Our church should provide us a place to worship Jesus in Spirit and in the truth of His Word. Also, our church should provide a chance to serve others -- To serve is Christ. We will never be more like Jesus than when we are serving others. We are all serving someone, but who are we serving; are we serving ourselves or others? In Mark 10:43b-45, Jesus explains that His followers must have mind focused on service and being a servant to others: “But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”. The longer that we stay focused on ourselves and not God or others, the longer we will remain stuck in a miserable spiritual condition. To serve is Christ.
Today’s Affirmation: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FORGIVEN. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9).

Christians Inherit a Culture of Grace, Mercy, and Kindness; Do We Pass It On?
Thursday May 24, 2018
Thursday May 24, 2018
Message Summary A culture of grace, mercy, and kindness is an environment in which there is no griping or murmuring; no putting people down. Paul relates, in Galatians 5:22-26, and defines the outcomes or “Fruits of the Spirit” and how they relate to a “Culture of Grace”: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.". This culture of grace, mercy, and kindness gives people the benefit of the doubt; and it provides a visible demonstration of the value of other people while, also, providing an atmosphere that is filled with the fruit of the Spirit.
Today’s Affirmation: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Resentment. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Compassion. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).
