Do You Believe that Our Secular Culture and Constrains You From Blessing Others with His Gospel?

Do You Believe that Our Secular Culture and Constrains You From Blessing Others with His Gospel?

January 30, 2020

MESSAGE SUMMARY: God has saved you so that you can be His ambassador to others. While blessing you so that you might be a blessing to other people; God has healed you so that you might bring God's healing powers to others. Jesus commissions you in Matthew 28;19-20 as He commissioned His Apostles just before His Ascension: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.". The Gospel is the answer; but, often, you keep this answer to yourself. This selfishness is manifested by your not speaking of the Gospel and your Salvation and by the way that you live your life and communicate your faith. Walk the walk; talk the talk; and share Jesus with other people. Peter tells you, in 1 Peter 3:15, how you are to witness to others using the Gospel’s answer: “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATIONToday, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Resentment. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Compassion. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): John 3:16-17; Romans 15:29; 1 Peter 3:8-17; Psalms 7:1-17.

Is God’s Law {Ten Commandments} Becoming Illegal in America?

Is God’s Law {Ten Commandments} Becoming Illegal in America?

July 14, 2019

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Today, are we saying that the Ten Commandments are irrelevant for America; and are they becoming illegal in America? If so, why? As a nation, we no longer teach or practice the Ten Commandments. We have made it illegal to post God’s Law to us, the Ten Commandments, on most walls of our courts and government schools. From a spiritual perspective, how can God, the Creator of the Universe, bless a nation which mocks and/or ignores Him? Paul, in Galatians 6:6-7, cautions both us, as individuals, and nations regarding the mocking of God: “Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches. Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.”. From a practical perspective, how can a society and a government function when their foundation has been removed? Our form of government was founded on the ethical base of the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments were in the thoughts and cultural norms of the people that created our country.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATIONI affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM RIGHTEOUS IN GOD’S EYES. God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Are You a Part of What God Is Doing In the World Today?

Are You a Part of What God Is Doing In the World Today?

June 13, 2019

MESSAGE SUMMARY Can you tell what God is up to in our world, in our time, in our church, and in America? Are you a part of what God is doing in the world today, or are you just reacting to what God is doing, thereby, creating conflict and division? Psalms 105 reminds you of God’s power in the world if you do seek His presence in your life: “Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered.". On the other hand, Paul, in 1 Thessalonians 1:9, warns you of the implications for not including the presence of Jesus in your worldly considerations: “They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might.”. While the Lord is leading, and directing, it seems that we are wrapped up in our agenda and our way of doing things; therefore, we miss God’s presence; and we miss the Holy Spirit in our lives.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATIONToday, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Past Failures. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Grace. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).

Even Though We Are Increasingly Abandoning God’s Laws, Pray and Ask God to Turn Our Country Around

Even Though We Are Increasingly Abandoning God’s Laws, Pray and Ask God to Turn Our Country Around

June 4, 2019

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Our country is NOT about “freedom from religion”. Sadly, because of our abandoning God’s Laws, all of us in this country are affected – Christians and non-Christians; atheists; and followers of other religious faiths. As Jesus says in Mathew 5:45: “. . . For He makes the sun rise on the evil and the good, and send the rain on the just and the unjust.”. What can we do? The first thing we can do is pray and to fast – pray and ask God to turn our country around. We do want God involved, and He is involved.  In Daniel 4:24-25, God told King Nebuchadnezzar, through Daniel’s interpretation of the King’s dream, that God is always in control; and that He determines those who govern us: “this is the interpretation, O king: It is a decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king, that you shall be driven from among men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. You shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and you shall be wet with the dew of heaven, and seven periods of time shall pass over you, till you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will.". God, the Creator of the Universe, responds to our prayers in all issues impacting our lives today – pray for God’s will, especially in these times of uncertainty.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATIONToday, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my AnxietyRather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Peace. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f).

Parents that Discipline Their Children, in Love, Are Following God’s Model of Love

Parents that Discipline Their Children, in Love, Are Following God’s Model of Love

May 13, 2019

MESSAGE SUMMARY: The Lord disciplines his children; therefore, so should we, and our discipline can take many forms, for example: 1) teach children a lesson, even hard lessons; 2) it's OK to take away children's privileges. The Lord's discipline is out of love; and our disciple, for our children, should be out of our love. Nobody likes discipline -- we don't like it; our kids don't like it; however, discipline works to bring righteousness and peace, and discipline brings fruit to us and our children down the road. In Hebrews 12:7-10, the author of Hebrews succinctly describes the Biblical perspective regarding discipline: It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.".

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Hatred. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Love. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).

Here I Am, Lord; Just as I Am; Have Mercy On Me a Sinner

Here I Am, Lord; Just as I Am; Have Mercy On Me a Sinner

May 12, 2019

MESSAGE SUMMARY: We don’t deserve it, but we come to God because of His Mercy. We are all sinners. As Paul tells us in Romans 9:18: “So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.". We can never enter God’s presence for prayer when we are in our pride with our focus on ourselves. Also, Paul reminds us, in 1 Corinthians 1:30-31, that, in our Salvation through God’s Grace, Jesus make us “boast” only in the Grace provided us by God: “And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, ‘Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.’”. We can only enter God’s presence when we humble ourselves in Jesus. Humility and penitence before God invite His presence – here I am, Lord; just as I am; have mercy on me a sinner.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATIONI affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! (Luke 11:13).

As a Christian, You Have the Capacity to Live Like No One Else; Are You?

As a Christian, You Have the Capacity to Live Like No One Else; Are You?

April 28, 2019

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Most of us had great passion in our lives as we approached the age to get our driver’s license or the age of eighteen when we would be an “adult”. Why don’t we have the same kind of passion about our spiritual life? Why don’t we want to grow up and mature in the Lord? Living in the Holy Spirit sets us apart from our fellow human beings who are living without the Christ. As Paul tells us, in Titus2:11-13, we must focus on living a Godly life while, also, living our life in the Holy Spirit: “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”. We have the capacity to live like no one else because we have presence of God in our lives through the person of the Holy Spirit.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATIONI affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, JesusI AM A CHILD OF GODYet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God-- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. (John 1:12f).

Christians Are To Be Purveyors of Grace, Mercy and Kindness to Others

Christians Are To Be Purveyors of Grace, Mercy and Kindness to Others

April 27, 2019

MESSAGE SUMMARY: A culture of grace, mercy, and kindness is an environment in which there is no griping or murmuring; no putting people down. Paul relates, in Galatians 5:22-26, and defines the outcomes or “Fruits of the Spirit” and how they relate to a “Culture of Grace”: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.". This culture of grace, mercy, and kindness gives people the benefit of the doubt; and it provides a visible demonstration of how we value other people while, also, providing an atmosphere that is filled with the fruit of the Spirit.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATIONI affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will trust in the Lord with all my heartI will trust in the Lord with all of my heart and lean not on my own understanding.  In all my ways I will seek to know Him, and He will make my pathways straight.   (From Proverbs 3:5f).
