Jesus Will Hold Your Hand and Walk Beside You in Your Trials and Troubles

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Is Jesus the Lord? Is Jesus Sovereign over the Universe? Does Jesus really care for you? If you will remember what you have been taught about Jesus, it will help you deal with your tough life circumstances: “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus," (Philippians 4:6-7). Remembering Jesus’ Sovereignty and character will help you to know that Jesus will hold your hand and walk along beside you in your trials and tribulations. However, be careful that you don’t drift away from your personal relationship with Jesus in your tough times.

 

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be ashamed of the Gospel. I will not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes (including me). (From Romans 1:16).

You Are Made in God’s Image with His Self-Sacrificing Love

MESSAGE SUMMARY: You are made in the image of God; therefore, you are supposed to be perfect mirrors of God's Agape Love (i.e. self-sacrificing love). In 1 John 4:16-17 (The New Testament book of 1 John is believed to have been written by the Apostle John, author of the “Gospel of John”.), John tells us about God’s Love: “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world." Sin is your failure to act as your God of Agape Love acts -- the opposite of Agape Love is your self-love. Also, in 1 John 4:18-19, John presents us with the fruits of Agape Love, within the context of God’s model for Agape Love: “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us.".

 

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM A CHILD OF GOD. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God-- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. (John 1:12f).

What Are You Anxious About in Your Life Right Now?

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Put a name on the cause of your anxiety and offer it to the Lord in prayer. Anxiety is never a helpful lens though which to focus your life. As Jesus tells you, in Luke 12:22,31 that you should not be anxious and to seek first the Kingdom of God: “And he said to his disciples, ‘Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on . . . Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you . . .’”. As a follower of Jesus today, why are you anxious?

 

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Heartlessness. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Kindness. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f).

In ALL the Times of Your Life, God Is with You!

MESSAGE SUMMARY: With your personal relationship with God, He is with you as you walk through all the times of your life – “. . .I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20b). In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, God tells us about all the times of the times of our lives: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.".

As a Follower of Jesus, Why Are You Anxious?

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Your problems are not too big for God; God is faithful. Your financial issues, your debt, your health issues, and your sins are not too big for God. God is faithful, and He is trustworthy. Why not take, to God, all those things in your life that are creating anxiety? In Psalms 9:9-10, the Psalmist encourages you to put your trust in God: “The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.". Also, Jesus tells us, in Mathew. 6:33-34, that you can put our trust in Him and not be anxious about your problems: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”. Our God is a faithful God.

In Our World’s Uncertainties, You Should “Fear Not for He {God} Will Come and Save You”

MESSAGE SUMMARY:  : Are our governmental leaders leading us off the cliff, or have they already led us of the cliff? The related uncertainty in our government, economic system, cultural institutions, and in our interactions with others have brought fear, anger and hostility to millions of Americans. As Christians, we can look to John 14:1 in which Jesus tells us: "Let not let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.". In times like these, we can be reminded of where our loyalties are and where our loyalties should be. Also, in times of uncertainty, our intimacy with God can be deepened -- God is still on the throne of the Universe. Isiah’s words from Isaiah 35:4, 10 provide you real comfort in the unrest and uncertainty today – take heed: “Say to those who have an anxious heart, ‘Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.’ . . . And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away."

 

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Inadequacy. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Abundance. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).

Should You Be Anxious or Afraid?

MESSAGE SUMMARY: If the Lord is my helper and confident, why should I be afraid? What can man do to me? For this confidence, we must know who Jesus is – both in our heart and in our mind. He is the Son of God – God in the flesh. As Paul tells us in Philippians 4:4: “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.". Therefore, I don’t have to worry about troubling circumstances in my life because I know that He is with me; and He will guide me no matter how dark my life seems. Jesus is the light that shines in darkness.  As Jesus tells us in Luke 12:4-5, when we have anxiety and fear in our lives, is this anxiety derivative of the right kind of fear: “I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him!”. When we are faced with life’s tragedies and the anxieties that result from just living our lives, Jesus can turn those situations and our fears into ways and results that we cannot fathom or understand; but we can certainly appreciate – why not give God a chance to walk with you in all your life situations -- good and bad? Ultimately, the Psalmist got it right in Psalm 23:4: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.".

Are You Living Your Life Above its Capacity?

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Most of us are living our lives “above our capacity for fullness” – at a level with no space or extra. Therefore, we bring on chaos in our lives producing feelings of being overwhelmed by events; exhausted on an emotional level and physically debilitated. Spirituality, we become wimps. Paul, in Ephesians 4:15-16, tells us about how God has equipped the followers of Jesus: “Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.". When we don’t live our lives with the fullness that God as provided us, we are wounding the cause of Jesus; and we are hurting ourselves.

A Solution for Uncertainty in Our Government, Leaders, and Our Economy

Message Summary: Are our leaders leading us off the cliff, or have they already led us of the cliff? The related uncertainty in our economic and governance systems have brought fear, anger, hostility, and polarization to millions of Americans and our country. As Christians, we can look to John 14:1 in which Jesus tells us: "Let not let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.". In times like these, we can be reminded of where our loyalties are and where our loyalties should be. Also, in these times of uncertainty, our intimacy with God can be deepened -- God is still on the throne of the Universe.        

Today’s Affirmation: I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ,  I will seek God’s perspective on my situation. For I know that in all things God  works together for good to those of us who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (From Romans 8:28).
