Forgiveness: Can You Think of Another of Jesus’ Attributes That Is More Critical for Healing Our Land Today?
MESSAGE SUMMARY:
If God has forgiven you, why do you have to confess your sins? Confession is for you so that you to forgive as the Christ forgives you. Your forgiving others means that you release others from the offense that you believe they have committed against you. Jesus set the “forgiveness standard” for you. Paul tells us in Ephesians 4:31-32: “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.". However, your forgiveness is not conditioned on the offender coming and asking you for their forgiveness – if you are like Jesus, you have already forgiven the offender. If you don’t forgive like Jesus, the offense festers and turns into resentment; and these unhealthy feelings are happening in you and not in the perceived offender because you have not forgiven your perceived offender as instructed be Jesus – “forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you”.
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Hatred. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Love. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).
SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Ephesians 4:31-32; Mathew 6:14-15; Psalms 130:3-4; Psalms 32:1-11.

MESSAGE SUMMARY:
The Promise of Forgiveness (Christ Cathedral, Kampala Uganda)
The Gospel is a message of both forgiveness and of judgement. With God’s Grace and our faith comes our forgiveness and Eternal Life. In John 5:24, Jesus tells us that we not only have Eternal Life after our earthly death; but we have Eternal Life from the moment we accept the Gospel and Jesus as our Lord and Savior: “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.". After Jesus Resurrection, Jesus appeared to many people, including a group of more than five hundred, over a period of forty days. The primary messages of the Bible’s New Testament Epistles are Jesus’ death, Resurrection, and the power of the Resurrection.
Jesus the Christ died on the cross for our sins. Through Jesus’ Resurrection from the dead and God’s Grace, sinners like us can have Eternal Life if we confess our sins and have faith in Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

MESSAGE SUMMARY:
None of us is perfect, and not one of us always does the will of God. Penitence is not a once in a lifetime occurrence. Penitence is a daily and moment by moment occurrence. Paul, in Romans 2:4-5, is unequivocal in establishing the need for your continuing penitence and the consequences of your not repenting of your sins on a real-time basis: “Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.". Therefore, we all need to repent and return to the Lord. You can become cocky and arrogant in your spiritual life – “I am a Christian; God has done this for me.”. As the Psalmist tells us in Psalms 32:5 of his confession and his penitence: “I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,’ and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.". You can rest on our perceived laurels; but these perceptions, of personal goodness and righteousness, can lead you quickly to a need for your penitence.
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I can do what He asks of me. (Philippians 4:13). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14).
SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Mathew 3:8-11; Romans 2:4-5; 2 Corinthians 7:10; Psalms 140:1-13.
