“Serve the Needs of Others”: What If You Are in a Grocery and You See a Young Family in Need at the Register and You Pay Their Bill?
MESSAGE SUMMARY: What would happen, if the next time you are in the grocery store, you see a young family in need at the register and you pay their bill? Would it be possible that the young family and those around could see Jesus in You? How could this single action by you ripple through the Kingdom? Paul, in Titus 3:4-8, powerfully lays out that we, as Christians, receive our Salvation through our faith and God’s Grace; however, we are given the opportunity to mirror Jesus in our actions and works: “But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people.". Therefore, what would happen if you paid the bill of a young family in line behind you at a fast-food restaurant; or what would happen if you got in your car and visited the shut-ins living in your community; or what would happen if you went next door and actually met, got to know, and helped your neighbor? If we want to be real Christians, then we need to follow the “Great Commission” set forth by Jesus, for us, in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”"
The world, the country, your friends, and your family have so many issues and hurts for which Jesus and His Gospel are the answer; but we keep this good news a secret by our unwillingness to live a visible life walking the talk of the Gospel and sharing the Gospel. Do you have the faith and courage and are you willing to share the Gospel? If you do, then pray for God’s guidance to you for His will and role for you.
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will trust in the Lord with all my heart. I will trust in the Lord with all of my heart and lean not on my own understanding. In all my ways I will seek to know Him, and He will make my pathways straight. (From Proverbs 3:5f).

Jesus Lived and Died on Earth as a Servant; Why Would Christians Not Realize They Are Expected to Serve Others?
MESSAGE SUMMARY:
You will never be more like Jesus than when you are serving others; and your best way to witness to non-believers is for them to see Jesus in you. Your best example of service is Jesus - To serve is Christ. Jesus instructed us, regarding serving others, in Mark 10:45: “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”. Jesus, the Son of Man, did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. If Jesus came, lived, and died on earth as a servant, then why would you, as a follower of Jesus, not realize that you are expected to serve? If, as Paul tell us in Romans 8:28-29, we are being conformed into the image of Jesus, then we are being taught how to serve: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.". To serve is to live as a reflection, to others, of Jesus in you.
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FORGIVEN. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9).

Focused On Yourself and Not God or Others Keeps You Stuck in a Miserable Spiritual Condition – To Serve Is Jesus
MESSAGE SUMMARY:
When we show up at our church on Sunday, what is our purpose – is it to serve or to be served? Too many of us go to church seeking what the church can do for us. Our church should provide us a place to worship Jesus in Spirit and in the truth of His Word. Also, our church should provide a chance to serve others. As Christians, are we to be served or to serve in our “Non-Sunday lives”? We are to serve others at every opportunity, and we are to seek opportunities to serve others -- To serve is Christ. We will never be more like Jesus than when we are serving others. We are all serving someone, but who are we serving; are we serving ourselves or others? In Mark 10:43b-45, Jesus explains that His followers must have mind focused on service and being a servant to others: “But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”. The longer that we stay focused on ourselves and not God or others, the longer we will remain stuck in a miserable spiritual condition. To serve is Christ.
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I will serve others. (Philippians 2:3f). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14).

Today’s Issues and Problems Give You the Opportunity To Mirror Jesus in Your Actions, Even With a “Mask” and “Distancing”
MESSAGE SUMMARY:
Paul, in Titus 3:4-8, powerfully lays out that we, as Christians, receive our Salvation through our faith and God’s Grace and not by our works. However, we are, also, given the opportunity to mirror Jesus’s good works in our actions and works: “But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Or what would happen if you got in your car and visited the shut-ins living in your community? Or what would happen if you went next door and actually met, got to know, and helped your neighbor? If we want to be real Christians, then we need to follow the “Great Commission” set forth by Jesus, for us, in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. Our most powerful tool, that we can use to follow Jesus “Great Commission”, is for our life to let others see Jesus in our faith, actions, and works.
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Fear. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Faithfulness. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).

Moving Your Focus From Yourself To the Needs of Others Makes You Free To Hear and Receive From God
MESSAGE SUMMARY:
Feeding of the 5000 (St. Andrews Episcopal Church; Ft, Worth, TX)
Jesus life and actions provide lessons to us of focusing on the needs of others over our perceived personal needs. In Mark 6:34, we see that Jesus’ compassion for the people, in the miraculous feeding of the 5,000, supplanted His personal need to grieve for the death of John the Baptizer and to rest. Rather, Jesus began to, immediately, minister to the people: “When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things.”. Like Jesus and in order to receive what God knows that we require, we need to move our focus away from our personal desires and perceived needs onto the real needs of others. When we move our focus away from ourselves and to a “outward focus”, we become free to hear and to receive from God. As in Jesus’ feeding of the 5,000, God desires that we look to Him; to take what He has given us; and to give to those in need. No matter where we are or in what context of life’s involvement that we find ourselves, we need to be willing to be broken vessels for use by God for His purposes.
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Anger. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Forgiveness. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).

MESSAGE SUMMARY:
God has saved you so that you can be His ambassador to others. As a Follower of Jesus, God has blessed you so that you might be a blessing to other people. Also, God has healed you so that you might bring God's healing powers to others. Jesus commissions you in Matthew 28;19-20 as He commissioned His Apostles just before His Ascension: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.". The Gospel is the answer; but, often, you keep this answer to yourself. This selfishness is manifested by your not speaking of the Gospel and your Salvation and by the way that you live your life and communicate your faith. Walk the walk; talk the talk; and share Jesus with other people. Peter tells you, in 1 Peter 3:15, how you are to witness to others using the Gospel’s answer: “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”.

MESSAGE SUMMARY:
Feeding of the 5000 (St. Andrews Episcopal Church; Ft, Worth, TX)
Like Jesus and in order to receive what God knows that we require, we need to move our focus away from our personal desires and perceived needs onto the real needs of others. After John the Baptizer had been beheaded by King Herod, the Apostles that told Jesus of this news and suggested that they get away from the crowds of people into a desolate area in which they could rest and pray. However, a large crowd of people followed Jesus and His Apostles onshore at the area in which they wished to rest. Jesus had compassion on the people that had followed Him; therefore, He began teaching, in Mark 6:34, to a very large group. When Jesus’ teachings carried on late into the evening, His Apostles suggested that Jesus send the crowd away into the villages to buy food. Rather, Jesus asked His Apostles to determine how much food was on hand in the crowd; and they determined that they had five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus blessed this food and, in Mark 6: 42-44, all the crowd ate from this food: “And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish. And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.".
In Mark’s teaching regarding the miraculous feeding of the 5,000, we see that Jesus’ compassion for the people over road His personal need to grieve for the death of John the Baptizer and to rest.
