Christians, in the Past and Today, Have Faced Derision and Persecution, Even Death; But Addresses God Impossible Situations and Transforms Our Lives
MESSAGE SUMMARY: The Disciples did not get to their life roles, after Jesus Resurrection and Ascension, without much grief and anguish; but Jesus transformed their lives. God addresses impossible situations in our lives, too; and then He transforms our lives, through His grace, into something of beauty. Jesus' Cross was an impossible situation, but now we view the Cross as a sign of triumph -- our triumph as believers and followers of Jesus! In John 10:27-30, Jesus succinctly describes how He transforms the lives of those that follow Him: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.”. Additionally, in today’s uncertainties and fears and with the new and uncharted paths that our life today demands that we follow, Paul, in Colossians 1:5-6, gives us hope through God’s Grace and the Gospel: “because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and growing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth".
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Lust. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Perfect Provision. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).
SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Colossians 1:5-6; John 11:25-26; John 10:14-18; Psalms 31a:1-12.

For You, Jesus “humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross” for Your Sins; What Are You Willing to Sacrifice for Him?
MESSAGE SUMMARY: What have you, personally, sacrificed for the Gospel? Some have lost jobs, friendships, and family members because of their faith. Others, outside of the US, are losing their lives following the Gospel of Jesus the Christ. For example, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) reports that 6,000 Christians were killed between January and June 2018 in Nigeria. What have you sacrificed for the gospel? You cannot earn your Salvation by your actions like standing up for your faith – Salvation is provided to you by God though His Grace and your faith. Paul, in Philippians 2:8-11, posits the Gospel’s intended impact for followers of Jesus: “And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.". However, there is a joy to you when you sacrifice something in your life for Jesus and the Gospel rather than always living for yourself. What have you sacrificed for the Gospel – Jesus gave His all for you?
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Addictions. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Self-Control. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f).
SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Philippians 2:1-11; 2 Corinthians 4:8-12; Acts 7:51-60; Psalms 18e:41-50.

In Today’s Uncertainties, You Need to Be Strong & Courageous

DEVOTIONAL VIDEO
MESSAGE SUMMARY:
Be Strong & Courageous (Commencement -- Reformed Episcopal Seminary; Oreland, PA)
Courage is acting and speaking even though you are afraid. If you follow God’s call and seek His will to live and act in His Word, there is no reason to be overcome by fear because: “your God is with you wherever you go”. After God’s grace through Jesus, God is in you through His gift to you of the Holy Spirit. You get strong by exercising the “muscles” of your faith and your commitment to God’s will and His word – often pushing your “commitment to God” beyond levels you thought possible. In Joshua 1:9, God commands you to be strong and courageous because He is with you: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”. When you obey God’s commands, He steps into your life with support for you to achieve His command. You have been equipped, as God told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 29:11-12, for God’s purposes in your life: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.".
Spiritual strength comes to you from having God with you and in you.
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM A CHILD OF GOD. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God-- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. (John 1:12f).
SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Jeremiah 29:11-12; Joshua 1:9; Joshua 1:6; Joshua 1:7; James 1:22; Hebrews 10:23; Joshua 1:8: 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Matthew 28:16-20. Ephesians 6:10-12.
